Tractor Battery
This article is about the most common types of electric lawn mowers available and what the differences are when it comes to the size, weight, price and power of the battery that powers them. The first type is the 12 volt battery or 'wheelie' battery. They are a little more expensive and can be found in many different makes and models. These batteries are used for pulling up grass and pushing the lawn mower, which requires a minimum of juice but a large amount of energy. This energy is stored in a small round-shaped battery that will power all of the electric components of the mower including the blades. As a result of this large energy storage and the weight they require the wheels on the mower will be a lot heavier than other types of batteries.
The second type is the car battery and although you may not think of them as being in a tractor, they do use a lot of the same parts. The electric motor, the battery charger and the alternator are all components of a 'tractor battery'. Although they are a lot smaller than a tractor battery, the electrical components are much more powerful and because they need to be able to pull a significant current, they need to be much lighter. The only time you will see a smaller car battery in use is in a remote control car since it doesn't have the power to pull a lawn mower which is usually what the battery is used for.
There are two common types of car batteries and the characteristics and uses of each are discussed below. The first one is the single-cell (or small cell) which has only one or two cells and has the lowest amp-hours rating of any battery. The second type is the multi-cell (or larger cell) which has more cells and their amp-hours are higher than those of the single-cell. You should try to get the best value for your money by using the multi-cell tractor batteries which have the highest amperes but also have lower total amps than the single-cell ones.
