If you own a model tractor, you are probably aware of the importance of owning a good Tractor Fuel System. For those who have no idea what this is all about, it is the part on the engine that feed air into the tractor's gas tank, as well as supplies an exhaust system for the back of the tractor. It is very important that you always open the fuel tank completely before you close the tractor off for the night.
This is actually a gravity feed system, where the carburetor is above the engine and the fuel tank. What happens is the lower carburetor creates pressure inside the upper carburetor, causing a siphoned-off effect. When you close your tractor, this siphoned-off gas from the carburetor will flow into the upper fuel tank, feeding the diesel into the combustion chamber, and providing power for your vehicle. However, if the siphoned-off gas doesn't seal, then all that gasoline could find its way into your engine, resulting in a burning engine, which is not very safe for your tractor.
So, how can you maintain the proper level of the Tractor Fuel System? Well, it is very important that you keep the Tractor Fuel System completely closed at all times, or you risk having your truck burn through the ethanol before it even makes it out of the truck camp! What you need to do is keep a bottle of spray oil by your tractor, and when you get in your truck to go, you spray the oil all over the diesel tanks and carburetor, making sure to wipe away any spills. This will prevent any seepage of gasoline from the pump gas or carburetor. The spray oil also acts as a very good preventative measure for ensuring proper sealing of the fuel system.
