The first step is to remove the all the parts of the tank, including the drain plug, drain pipe and the protective cover. After this, you must carefully inspect the tank for any signs of degradation and rust. In addition, you may want to look for the following signs:
o If you see any sediment buildup in the lower pan, this means that there is too much salt in there. This accumulation can be caused by improper drain plug installation or dirty drain pipes. In order to solve the problem, you have to reseal the drain plugs. o A dirty drain plug is obviously the cause of sediment buildup; in this case, you should clean it properly before reinstalling it. After this, you can replace the drained plug to solve your problem.
o A corroded drain pipe may also be the culprit behind the dirty water coming out of your old tank. The problem here is that the old drain pipe gets filled with corroded iron particles which causes a build-up of sludge in the tank, reducing its efficiency and leading to leaks. For this reason, you should use high quality drainpipes. Once again, you should check your drain pipe for rust; if you find it, you should carefully inspect its end for proper fitting. Once done with all these procedures, you can refill your old tank and continue using it. However, in case you already have an unusable tank, you can find other fuel tanks on the market that are compatible with your tractor.
