Tractor Rim
It is often that when you're making a brick porch or patio addition, you have to make compromises. You may have to sacrifice some flexibility in order to get the best results. You can still install the bricks relatively easily with landscape cement for a firmer build. Now when you plan to create your own tractor rim to enclose your new brick patio addition, leave some space between the tractor rim and the brick wall as you're constructing it.
Fill that space with crushed rock and gravel until it is level with the top of the brick wall. You will find that when you buy tractor tire rims, they come with the appropriate jugs pre-drilled, but you can cut the jugs to size as they come. Lay a level row of bricks as the trim for your tractor tire rim. It is also a good idea to line these bricks with gravel or a soft line just in case you need to excavate further back on the wall. This will prevent soil from shifting out of place.
The final step is to line the rim of the tractor with landscape fabric. If you have a brick porch, you should use a level and square patio piece as the trim for the tractor rim. Follow this up by installing jugs at every alternate tread that goes up to three inches deep. Once you have finished building the rim, you should add landscape fabric to cover any open spaces.
