Tractor Rockshaft
The Tractor Rock and Tractor Shaft are a unique type of rock and implement display that have been around for many years. This is one display system that does not contain any ropes or chains, but rather requires two persons to lift and lower a extremely heavy rock into and out of place. Although not the largest single displays on the market, this particular display is certainly amongst the most commonly seen, and many people will use it in their yard and garden every day.
The Rock and Tractor Display consists of four large ladders that are constructed from heavy duty steel and are linked at the bottom with a three-point hitch. On each of the radders there are small openings. To put the rock in the hole, you must use the small opening at the bottom of the ladder and push the rock into the hole. If you have a small rocky area, you can make holes in the ground by using larger rocks instead of the standard three-point hitch. Some examples of these are; medium size (about 10" long), rounded top (about 4" long), and large (over eight" long).
The reason this type of display is so popular is because there is no need to manually drag the heavy rocks and implement them into position. All you need to do is stand next to the tractor, push the rock into place, then lift and lower it as needed. This is accomplished because each of the ladders are connected by a three-point hitch to the bottom of the tractor, which then raises and lowers the rock using a hydraulic lift assist assembly connected to the front of the tractor via the hydraulically operated hydraulic lift assist assembly connected to the lower center link of the tractor (Fig. B).
