Tractor Stabilizer

As tractor owners know well, the Tractor Stabilizer is a part of the tractor operator's "Yoke and Plunger" system. The stabilizer acts as a deflector to deflect any dangerous outside force, be it wind, snow, ice or rain, that would otherwise knock your machine off balance and cause it to topple over. In order for this device to work properly, it must be connected to both the tractor's drive chains (the actual weight) and the pinion strut (a tie rod that holds the pins in place). The Tractor Stabilizer is comprised of two main components: the pinion chain guide bush, which has a long, slanted shaft that goes down past the tractor's engine and onto the pinion frame, and the keeper chain sprocket, which rotate the pins and keep them in place. To ensure proper operation, the stabilizer must be connected to either a Tractor Stabilizer bar or a pinion gear (with the help of a guide rod).

In order for the Tractor Stabilizer to work properly, you will need to regularly (at least once every year) check and adjust the two stabilizer bars that connect the pinion frame to the frame of the tractor. These two stabilizer bars are usually available in either metric or standard sizes and have a number of different head screws on each. Once you take out the nuts on one of the stabilizer bars, you will notice a number of small metal spheres inside the holes. These spheres are the bolts that will allow you to tighten and loosen the bolts that keep the pins in position.

Before tightening the bolts, place a small piece of tape, such as a folded towel or an elastic band, on the bolt that you intend to use to tighten the bolt. Once the bolt is tightened, slowly turn the screw clockwise until the sphere pops out of the hole. Do this with the other bolt in the same category-1. The last type of Tractor Stabilizer is the category-2, which has a ball-bearing or drum shaped iron housing with one or more ball bearings. This type of stabilizer is best suited for heavier applications that are not easily controlled by hand and is not as useful on the small models of tractors.
