Tractor Tie Rod

When to replace Tractor Tie Rods in a Tractor. Tie rods need to be regularly inspected to check their condition. Signs of a bad tie rod being unhealthy include the following symptoms: - a tractor which prefers to pull to the right when driving, - a rumble while steering and - uneven tread wear on both tires. Sometimes these signs can be due to a small dent in one of the tie rods. If this is the case, it is advisable to repair the dent before replacing the rod.

Usually, tie rods are manufactured from steel, brass or aluminum and are usually screwed into the tractor's transmission tunnel. Sometimes they are part of the suspension system. The threads in the rod are placed directly into the tire bed. In such cases, it is best to remove the rod and replace it with a new one as the old one may cause undue wear to the tire and make it more vulnerable to damage.

Tractor manufacturers recommend that tie rods be changed every three months to prevent excessive wear and tear on the tire and to also ensure proper alignment. This is because tie rods are used to help move the front wheel of the tractor to the center of the track while driving, thereby improving tractors' maneuverability. In addition to this, it improves the tire wear by reducing heat build-up and vibration.
