Tractor Wheel
The axle, trail, and wheel centers are what comprise a Tractor Wheel. The trail of the tractor wheel centers the axle of the tractor. The trail of a wheel refers to the ground surface. The term trail does not refer to the actual tread of a tire, but refers to the "grip" of a tire. There is a close relationship between the turning speed of a front tractor tire and the movement of the back tires.
Hubs on a tractor are the part that connects the tractor to its wheels. These hubs are commonly made of cast iron or steel. There are many different types of hub designs; however, a common design includes a large flat area in the center of the hub, which houses the spindle assembly. Spindles are found on the bottom or side of these hub designs. The hub is connected to the tractor by a chain, which is then drawn around the rim of each of the tires on the tractor.
The speed at which the tractor moves is related to the angle of each of its tires on its trail or wheel center. This angle is measured in degrees. To determine the speed at which a tractor is traveling, it can be difficult to determine because there is no way to tell how far the tractor has moved since it stopped. The distance from the front wheels to the back wheels of a tractor, referred to as track or trail, is called the lag.
